Protege SE End of Life

Transition to the latest ICT platform with ease

For more than 15 years, the Protege SE management suite has secured properties all around the world, from small businesses through to large and prestigious sites. Many sites are still in operation today, which is testament to the quality of the engineering that has gone into this software and hardware solution.

On 1 December 2021, Protege SE will become end of life and will no longer be supported by ICT. This means no future software updates or technical support will be offered for the range past this date.

End User FAQ

How do I determine which platform is right for my business?

This will be dependent on your current sites configuration, use of integrations and future requirements. Your installer will be able to recommend the right platform to move to.

What do I do if don't have contact with a certified ICT installer?

Talk to us and our sales team will put you in touch with a certified ICT professional in your area.

Do I need to purchase new door access readers when I upgrade?

The good news is both Protege WX and GX support existing SE hardware. This means you can keep your current door readers in place. We do recommend you talk to your installer about the added security benefits a new ICT tSec reader can add when paired with a high security credential such as DESFire.

A Bluetooth / NFC enabled ICT tSec also enables you to take advantage of the latest in mobile credential connectivity.

What does this mean for my warranty?

All current warranty terms remain in place and are unaffected by this announcement.

ICT Installer FAQ

What is required to migrate an SE site to Protege WX?

Replace the existing SE controller with a WX controller. SE users can be easily migrated to the new system, with the remainder of the site re-programmed using the intuitive wizard. End users do not need to upgrade the door reader hardware, as existing ICT product is compatible.

Important to note: Each SE module will need to be addressed manually via the dip switch.

What hardware options are there to migrate from SE Protege GX?

ICT offer two hardware options - a PCB GX controller that matches the footprint of the existing Protege SE PCB. The standard Protege GX controller can be used in place and is the recommended upgrade path. ICT recommends the DIN-Rail controller as a futureproofed solution.

What costs are involved when migrating from SE to Protege GX?

This is dependent on the migration path chosen. If a new DIN or PCB controller is purchased, any licenses will be carried over and ICT will provide a new GX SSN free of charge. If the SE site is merged with an existing GX install, then any licenses required for the site to function will need to be purchased.

What documentation is available for migrating SE to Protege GX?

See our detailed Protege SE to Protege GX Upgrade Guide. You will also need to log a support ticket with ICT tech support before beginning an upgrade.
