Discover the Updated Suprema Integration
Enhanced Biometric Access Control
Biometric authentication continues to grow in demand as organizations seek stronger identity verification at their doors. The updated integration between ICT’s Protege GX and Suprema’s biometric devices delivers a more capable, more streamlined biometric access experience.
What’s Updated
The latest version of the Suprema integration introduces several key improvements:
Expanded Device Support
The integration now supports Suprema’s latest generation of biometric readers, including facial recognition terminals and multi-modal devices that combine fingerprint and face authentication. This gives security designers more options when specifying readers for different environments and threat levels.
Streamlined Enrollment
Biometric enrollment has been simplified with an updated workflow that reduces the steps required to register a user’s fingerprint or facial template. Enrollment can be performed at any supported Suprema device, with templates automatically distributed to all relevant readers through Protege GX.
Improved Template Management
Biometric templates are now managed centrally within Protege GX, eliminating the need to maintain separate databases. When a user’s access rights change — whether they move departments, change roles, or leave the organization — their biometric data is updated or removed across all devices simultaneously.
Faster Matching Performance
The updated integration takes advantage of Suprema’s latest matching algorithms, delivering sub-second authentication even on devices storing thousands of templates. This ensures that biometric verification does not create bottlenecks at high-traffic entry points.
Use Cases for Biometric Access
High-Security Zones
Server rooms, research labs, pharmaceutical storage, and executive areas benefit from biometric authentication as a second factor. Even if a card is stolen or shared, the biometric check ensures only the authorized individual gains entry.
Card-Free Environments
In manufacturing, healthcare, and food processing facilities where carrying a card is impractical due to gloves, hygiene requirements, or contamination risks, biometric readers provide a hands-free or touch-free access method.
Time and Attendance
Biometric readers eliminate buddy-punching and credential sharing in time and attendance applications. Each authentication event is tied to a verified individual, ensuring accurate workforce records.
Multi-Factor Authentication
For the highest security levels, the integration supports multi-factor authentication combining a card or mobile credential with a biometric scan. This layered approach meets the requirements of government, defense, and critical infrastructure facilities.
Seamless Integration with Protege GX
All biometric events — successful authentications, failed attempts, and enrollment activities — are logged in the Protege GX event system alongside conventional card reads and other access events. Operators see a single, unified timeline of security activity regardless of the authentication method used.
