Akuvox Integration

Akuvox door phones do more than open a door. Call buttons, PIN entry, and facial recognition sit on the same unit, and Protege GX still makes the access decision behind all of them — whether a resident presents their face, taps a code, or a visitor buzzes the front desk.

• Convenient for the end user. They just submit a photo of their face to the site administrator. The next time they walk up to the door, the terminal authenticates them and unlocks it before they can even get their card out
• Easy for the administrator. A site administrator adds a resident’s or tenant’s photo the same way they already add photo ID in Protege GX. The Connect Service picks up the change and syncs it to every Akuvox terminal that person can access, usually inside 30 seconds, with nothing to configure on the door phone itself
• Cost-effective. Akuvox devices provide a low-cost entry into biometric authentication. With standalone terminals, you get the benefits of facial recognition without installing a second access management platform
• Protects users’ privacy. All data is stored and processed on-premises by default, with no internet connection required. Optionally, the system can require the user’s consent to be recorded before it sends their photo to any terminals

• The Protege GX integration with Akuvox supports facial recognition on the E16C, and PIN entry on all validated models
• Akuvox terminals enforce a 4-digit minimum PIN and pad shorter codes with leading zeros, so we recommend matching that minimum length in Protege GX
• Dual authentication is supported alongside a card reader on the same reader port
• User credentials and photos synchronize automatically every 30 seconds, with manual synchronization also available
• Every sync and device action is recorded to an audit log with 90-day retention
• Facial-recognition consent can be tracked per site, so photos are only synchronized once a user’s consent is recorded
• The integration supports multiple Protege GX sites
