The Challenge

Hotel Halond is a boutique property where the guest experience depends on frictionless, intuitive interactions with every aspect of the building — including how guests access their rooms, the gym, spa facilities, and parking.

The hotel’s management needed a security system that could manage guest credentials tied to reservation dates, control staff access to service areas and back-of-house zones, and integrate with the property management system (PMS) — all without creating complexity for the front desk team or inconvenience for guests.

The previous access control system was difficult to administer, required manual credential updates when reservation dates changed, and offered no integration with the wider building management infrastructure.

The Solution

Hotel Halond deployed Protege WX for access control throughout the property. The web-based, no-software platform enabled rapid deployment and gave front desk staff an intuitive browser-based interface for issuing and managing guest credentials.

The implementation included:

  • PMS integration — guest access credentials automatically activated at check-in and deactivated at checkout, synchronized with the reservation system
  • Zone-based access control — guests access only the areas covered by their booking (standard room, premium room, spa access, parking)
  • Staff credentials with time-restricted access to service corridors, housekeeping storage, and management offices
  • Building automation outputs — HVAC and lighting control linked to occupancy status via the Protege system
  • Mobile app management for duty managers to grant, modify, or revoke access remotely
