Smart Monitoring Across Australia's Remote Landscapes

Kompliance — Remote Security & Compliance

The Challenge

Kompliance specializes in innovative solutions for Australia’s demanding remote environments, focusing on public safety, compliance monitoring, and speed enforcement. ICT systems have been foundational to the Kompliance platform from inception. When inefficiencies emerged — particularly high false-alarm rates from passive infrared sensors — Kompliance pushed the technology further, ultimately creating the Komodo, a modular solution now being deployed globally.

Kompliance’s original system relied on PIR sensors and physical key locks, creating substantial operational issues. PIR sensors misfired frequently in busy environments with passing vehicles, and triggered false alarms from spiders and animals. Legacy key systems created logistical problems including expensive callouts, extended travel times, and significant downtime when keys were misplaced in remote locations. The base unit required variable power and multiple fuel sources, compounding inefficiencies.

The Solution

Kompliance selected ICT’s Protege GX platform as the control system for multiple operations, access control, and intrusion capabilities. The upgrade began with preliminary setups on five older machines before advancing to newer units.

Keyless Access System

The transition from physical keys to keyless entry eliminated major operational pain points. Previously, when equipment was deployed five or six hours away, door openings couldn’t identify who accessed the unit, requiring extensive video review. Remote PIN-based access now allows authorization for contractors without requiring on-site key management. All doors operate under access control, with function codes enabling granular permissions. Every access is logged for essential audit trails. Calendar actions enable remote scheduling for contractors and fuel delivery personnel.

AI-Driven Intrusion Detection

The system incorporates AI camera-based intrusion detection identifying human movement, virtually eliminating false triggers that plagued PIR sensors in high-vehicle-traffic areas and wildlife-populated regions.

Dashboard & Integration Evolution

Kompliance’s proprietary dashboard began using Modbus technology but is planning evolution to custom integration via ICT’s SOAP API for deeper data access and system control. The newest Komodo deployments include FireShield, an intelligent fire detection and suppression module linked with Protege GX for critical protection of high-value remote assets.

Key Outcomes

  • Near-zero false alarm rate achieved through AI camera implementation — virtually eliminating false triggers from PIR sensors
  • Complete keyless access system with remote PIN-based authorization and full audit trails
  • Centralized dashboard consolidating operations and enhancing user experience for compliance agencies
  • Granular access control with function codes for individual compartment restrictions
  • Scalable modular solution deployable across diverse remote locations — from speed enforcement to wildlife monitoring to beach operations
  • FireShield integration for intelligent fire detection and suppression in remote assets

What They Said

“Our operators rave about how easy the ICT systems are to use, especially dealing with remote areas.”

— Tory Ogden, Director, Kompliance

“Now keyless entry is a thing, we can allow access remotely using a PIN without worrying whether the keys happen to be on site.”

— Tory Ogden, Director, Kompliance

“The biggest thing for us as we grow is that we have a reliable partner in ICT. We don’t want to outgrow a system and then in six months’ time have to replace everything.”

— Tory Ogden, Director, Kompliance
